Olding Valley
Olding Valley, the last village of District Kharmang in Gilgit-Baltistan, is renowned for its stunning scenery, including mountains, lush fields, and the crystal-clear Indus River. The village is situated at 8,676 feet (2,644 m) above sea level, near the India-Pakistan border (LOC), it lies on the traditional trade route between Baltistan and Ladakh via Kargil. The village's small population relies on agriculture and livestock farming and has a rich cultural and historical heritage, highlighted by the tomb of Shaikh Ali Brolmo. Inhabited predominantly by Tibetic peoples such as Baltis and Purigpas, the main languages are Balti and Purgi, however, while English and Urdu are widely spoken . Islam is the dominant faith. The village is known for various fruits, including apricot, apple, grapes, mulberry, cherry, and peach, which locals sell to earn income.
