The Mazino Pass, situated approximately 42 kilometers from Astore's administrative center, is a renowned trekking destination, particularly popular among international trekkers. This high-altitude pass is celebrated not only for its challenging yet rewarding trail but also for its strategic importance as a base camp for climbers attempting to summit Nanga Parbat, the formidable "Killer Mountain." Nanga Parbat, the 9th highest peak globally and 2nd in Pakistan, stands alone in the Himalayas. It has three famous climbing faces: Rupal, Diamer, and Raikot. The Mazino Pass (5,377m) is a semi-technical trekking route linking Rupal Valley to the Diamer region. The challenging trek around the mountain requires basic rope and harness skills. The trek to Mazino Pass offers adventurers a stunning array of alpine scenery and is considered one of the most iconic routes for those seeking both solitude and a direct path to the western face of one of the world’s highest peaks.
